Nestlé and how to “Operationalize” sustainability

22/09/2016
Antonio García de Castro| Rocío Reina Paniagua
This case allows to reflect on the importance or not of sustainability in a company of the 21st century. Sustainability is not only a question of making sure that the business model is able to survive, but is also about understanding that we live in a society that is in harmony with what companies intend their future business to be. Nestlé is a company that is highly focused on the long term, consequently it needs to be aligned with what society needs. There are different opinions related to this topic: is it only greenwashing or is it a strategic issue? And what is more important if we consider that sustainability is crucial for the long term: how can we make it real? How can we operationalize sustainability?
