The Advisory Council of the Professorship on “Women, Enterprise and Society” meets once more

The Advisory Council of the Professorship on “Women, Enterprise and Society” meets once more.

The first meeting of the recently inaugurated academic course was held in headquarters of the Instituto Internacional San Telmo in Seville pertaining to the Advisory Council of the Professorship  on “Women, Enterprise and Society”, promoted by this business school and led by Professor Brita Hektoen

Throughout the event, the official report of the previous academic year was submitted, along with the proposal for scheduled activities in 2018-2019. Another proposal was also unveiled for a combined research project between the Pablo Olavide University and this Professorship.

Furthermore, new companies were welcomed into the fold which have joined this Council, amongst which we find: Grupo Azvi, Lactalis Puleva, Garrigues and Coviran

The meeting concluded with an address by the President of the Advisory Council, Mrs. Marifrancis Peñarroya, CEO of Holiday World. During the same, Peñarroya stressed the significance of the role of women in companies in the 21st century, along with the relevance for current society of family-run firms such as the Peñarroya Group, which wholly backs the equality of opportunities and diversity. The Peñarroya Group made the decision to belong to the Advisory Council of the Professorship on Women, Enterprise and Society to act as an example and to be able to help other companies to enhance diversity in the composition of the members of their boards of governance, thus benefiting strategic decision-making. Work is undertaken to ensure that female executives have greater visibility and accomplish the implementation of policies within the enterprises that facilitate for both men and women the chance to make a valuable contribution on a professional, personal and family level. This corroborates, therefore, the firm commitment of the Peñarroya Group with this Professorship, in which it has been closely involved from the outset, before taking the reins from the outgoing President Blanca Torrent; and in this sense shows the main aim of the Professorship on Women, Enterprise and Society of becoming a flagship institution in the research into the female participation in management posts and contributing to a society in which men and women have the same chances in decision-making bodies; as well as achieving greater visibility on the part of female entrepreneurs and executives, whilst creating employment at the same time.
